Welch High Capacity Piston Pumps

Welch high capacity piston pumps are powerful, oil-free dry vacuum pumps designed for applications that require higher flow rates and continuous duty performance. Built with Welch’s proven WOB-L piston technology, these pumps deliver strong vacuum and airflow without the mess or maintenance of oil-sealed pumps.

Why Choose Welch High Capacity Piston Pumps?

  • High flow rates (up to 100+ L/min) for faster processing
  • 100% oil-free operation — no oil mist or contamination
  • Robust construction for continuous or heavy-duty use
  • Quiet and relatively low vibration
  • Excellent value and long service life
  • Versatile vacuum and pressure capabilities on many models

How WOB-L High Capacity Piston Pumps Work

The WOB-L (wobbling piston) design uses a piston that rocks in a circular motion rather than spinning. This motion expands a Teflon seal against the cylinder wall to create efficient vacuum. High-capacity models feature larger pistons, dual heads, or reinforced components to achieve significantly higher airflow while maintaining reliable dry vacuum performance.

Key Advantages

  • No oil changes or waste oil disposal required
  • Cleaner vacuum ideal for sensitive samples and filtration
  • Higher throughput than standard diaphragm or small piston pumps
  • Lower operating costs over time
  • Portable and easy to integrate into lab or process systems

Popular Welch High Capacity Models We Carry

  • 2561 / 2562 Series – Reliable mid-to-high flow WOB-L pumps
  • 2581 / 2585 Series – Highest capacity WOB-L models
  • 2154 / 2163 Series – High-flow PTFE diaphragm pumps (related chemical-duty options)
  • 2019 Series – Filtration-focused high-capacity pump

Best Applications

  • Large-scale vacuum filtration and manifold systems
  • Vacuum drying ovens and desiccators
  • Aspiration and fluid transfer
  • Gas sampling and transfer
  • Industrial process support
  • OEM equipment integration
  • Any application needing high airflow at moderate vacuum levels

Maintenance Tips for Longevity

  • Replace piston seals, valves, and gaskets every 6–12 months (depending on usage)
  • Keep inlet and exhaust filters clean to prevent clogging
  • Use liquid traps when pumping condensable vapors
  • Run the pump periodically to keep internal components dry
